Log a reward or consequence
Quick answer
- Prompt Felix — log a reward for [student] for [reason] — by typing or voice.
- Confirm the student, then accept or change the value and points Felix suggests.
- Preview the postcard as the student and parent will see it, then Send.
Felix logs rewards and consequences against a student, works out which of your school's values the behaviour demonstrates, and creates the postcard that the student and their parents see.
Prompt Felix
Open Felix and say what you want to record — for example log a reward for Sophie for helping other classmates. You can type it or use voice input.
Giving a reason in the prompt lets Felix suggest the matching value. Without one, you choose the value yourself.
Confirm the student
Felix confirms who you mean. If several students match, they are all listed — select the right one, or select more than one to log the same thing for each.
Check your school's settings
Felix shows the settings that apply before you commit — whether a notification, a postcard and a certificate are sent for this log, and whether teacher reminders are on.
Note: These are set per class and per school by your school admin in CE, not by you. Your school may collect logs and send postcards weekly or at a milestone rather than one at a time. See Configure agent features for behaviour management in the CE user guide.
Accept or change the value and points
Felix names the value it matched — for example Care, worth 2 points, for offering help to others through acts of kindness or community service — and explains why it chose it. Pick a different value if it is wrong, or switch to the Consequence tab instead.
The running tally at the bottom shows the student's reward points for the year and what this log will take them to.
Preview the postcard
Preview shows the postcard as the student sees it in the Learner Experience Platform and as the parent sees it in the Parent Experience Platform. Edit takes you back.
Send
Click Send. The postcard is created and logged in CE, and goes out according to your school's settings.
Logging a consequence
A consequence follows the same flow on the Consequence tab, with two differences: the points are deducted from the student's tally, and a case is created in CE so the consequence can be assigned to a member of staff and tracked until the student's behaviour improves.
Milestones and certificates
As a student's points accumulate they pass milestones, and a certificate is issued to the Learner Experience Platform for the student and the Parent Experience Platform for their parents. GEMS schools use three: 50, 450 and 1,000 points. Milestones are configurable per school in CE.
Note: Points are a record of recognition only. They are not a balance and cannot be exchanged for anything.
